Motiv is a photo gallery in a magazine format, a meeting place for photographers, artists, writers, viewers and readers. The content ranges from documentary and journalistic photographs to more conceptual work. Motiv is as light-hearted and sensitive as it is analytical and topical.
Founded in 2004, Motiv is published three times a year. Each issue has a new theme: a way of scrutinising what photographic stories there are to tell. Most images have not been published or exhibited before. Relating to the themes and dealing with photography as an art form and a phenomenon, the texts are specially written for Motiv.
Our starting-point is the visual explorations undertaken by photographers and artists and we welcome project proposals. We aim to break new ground for innovative photography and to promote, in various ways, the discussion on photography.
A non-profit publication, the production of Motiv is financed by the editorial staff and by subscriptions.
Since # 9, Motiv is bilingual: Swedish and English.
